"We Care"

Year 6 Junior Citizen May 2018

On Tuesday 1st May our year 6 pupils attended a fire station in Oxford for a morning of learning about personal safety and citizenship in a safe but "real to life" environment. Pupils split into groups and completed various activities as well as scenarios which they may come across in real life.

This event was a multi agency collaboration between Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service, St John's Ambulance, Thames Valley Police, Oxfordshire Road Safety, Oxfordshire Trading Standards and Oxfordshire Ambulance.

The pupils experienced a broad range of scenarios including rescuing someone from a river, being approached by a stranger and what to do when you discover a fire. Anya commented about how she found it good to do a replica 999 call as she now knows what questions they will ask and how you feel when you are passing information on in an emergency.

We hope you like the following pictures from their morning:

The school's religious character is an integral part of everyday life at Ashbury. Pupils' behaviour is excellent.
